What should you ask after an accident?
Choose what happened to see practical questions and a related guide. No sign-in, personal information, or medical records required.
Car collision: your first questions
Use these questions when preparing to speak with a licensed attorney or organizing your notes.
- Who would handle my matter if I retained your firm?
- What records should I bring to an initial discussion?
- What deadlines might apply to these circumstances?
- How are attorney fees and separate case expenses explained?
- How would your office communicate updates?
Want to send an optional information request?
You can send a basic question to Injury Lawyer Scout. The form is free and asks for contact consent. You do not need every document first. Avoid uploading medical records, Social Security numbers, claim policy numbers or another person's private data.
Before contacting an attorney
Do I need all the documents?
No. You can start by noting the incident type, approximate date, where it happened, and questions you want to ask. Keep sensitive records private until you know who will receive them and why.
What about fees?
Ask the attorney how their fee is calculated, what expenses may be separate, and what their written agreement would require. Injury Lawyer Scout does not quote or set attorney fees.
What about deadlines?
Different claims may have different deadlines. Ask a qualified attorney promptly which deadlines apply to your circumstances rather than assuming that one general deadline covers every case.
Can someone choose a lawyer for me here?
No. This is a free educational site, not a law firm or attorney-referral/matching service. It does not select or contact attorneys for visitors.
